How long does it take to repair a damaged fabric?
A fabric repair can take anywhere from one day to two weeks or more to complete depending on the complexity of the fabric's construction, the size of the defect and the number of damaged yarns in the defective area.
Do we send the fabric to you or do you conduct the repair on the papermachine?
Usually the fabric is removed from the paper machine and shipped to us to be repaired at our repair facility. That being said, if a situation occurs where an on-site repair is requested and is feasible, we are certainly willing to accommodate and help our customers when possible.
Do you offer your repair services to pulp and paper mills in the U.S.A and if so, do you also provide brokerage services?
Yes, a good portion of our clients are mills that are located in the U.S.A. and because of that we are also able to provide low-cost import and export brokerage services that make for a seamless cross-border transaction.
What are the differences between the on-site fabric repair methods we currently use and the fabric repair service you offer?
The on-site repair methods performed on the papermachine are temporary stopgap measures at best as they use the minimum of resources to address the situation. These repairs often make matters worse if the original problem is not fixed in a timely manner.
Our handwoven fabric repairs are permanent and are the highest quality repairs available. This is because we reconstruct the damaged area to function as it did before the damage occurred by replacing the damaged yarns with yarns from a similarly woven fabric sample. These new yarns are individually woven into the damaged fabric in-plane with the top and bottom sides of the fabric using a sewing needle and microscope to manually reconstruct the original weave pattern and restore the fabric's original drainage capabilities and dimensional support.
What types of damage can you repair and is there a limit to the size of the defects you can fix?
We can repair tears, holes, scratches creases and stacking issues (blisters) and there is no upper limit to the size of the repair that we can fix.
Do you offer any kind of warranty?
Yes. At Fabfix we take great pride in everything we do and we guarantee our fabric repairs will be durable and warranted against poor craftsmanship.
How do you manage to match the correct yarn properties to the yarns in my damaged fabric?
When you first place your order with us, we ask that you also provide us with a small sample of similar fabric. The minimum size that we require is 6"x6", but if you prefer to send us a larger piece we would keep it on file for another time, saving you this step the next time you decide to use our services on the same style of fabric. This fabric sample is needed so that we may remove the yarns from it and re-sew them into the defective area allowing us to match the properties of the different yarns used in the fabric and provides you with a custom built repair that is as close to invisible as possible.

If you choose to call or email us, please have the fabric's total mesh and count values and the approximate dimensions of the defect ready so we may provide you with an estimate based on your unique situation.
